Gilas Women eliminate SEAG 3x3 champs Thailand, advance to semis

The Philippine national women's basketball team ousted defending women's 3x3 basketball champions Thailand, 14-8, on Saturday to advance to the tournament's knockout semi-finals in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.

Prior to the Thailand match, Gilas Pilipinas women dominated Laos, 21-6, after opening its campaign with a 21-19 loss to Vietnam.

The team composed of Jack Animam, Afril Bernardino, Janine Pontejos, and Mikka Cacho ended the preliminary rounds with a 2-1 record, second behind 3-0 Vietnam in Group A of the tournament.

The Philippines will face Cambodia, while Vietnam will face Indonesia in the crossover semis scheduled on Sunday
