Sajonia, Tagle connive as San Beda routs EAC to snap skid

Bryan Sajonia and Emman Tagle linked up to steer an undermanned San Beda University to an 84-78 victory against Emilio Aguinaldo College in the 2023 FilOil EcoOil Preseason Cup on Thursday.

Sajonia, who transferred from Far Eastern University, produced 23 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals while Tagle listed 24 markers, five boards, and three dimes as the Red Lions halted their two-game losing slump and improved to 2-3.

The Generals, meanwhile, slid to a similar 2-3 card after seeing their two-game winning streak end.

EAC led by as many as 10 late in the second period with Dave Ednilag burying a jumper to give the Generals a 41-31 advantage, before the Red Lions countered with a 7-0 run to end the first half.

Tagle then knocked down a triple to give San Beda its first taste of the lead,  46-45, early in the third, which ended with them holding a 68-61 upper hand. The Mendiola crew never looked back since then as it closed out EAC to finally get back to the win column.

San Beda played with only nine players as most of its key players were lined up for a different tournament.
