Perpetual, La Salle set up Filoil semis clashes vs UP, NU

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA and De La Salle University took down separate foes on Friday in San Juan to enter the 2023 Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup semifinals.

Perpetual remained as the lone NCAA team in the preseason tournament after surviving Far Eastern University, 74-73, in the quarterfinals.

The Las Piñas-based squad had another stellar outing from sophomore Jun Roque, who churned out 27 points, six rebounds, and an assist to help the ALTAs crawl back from an 11-point deficit late in the first period.

Meanwhile, La Salle denied NCAA champion Colegio de San Juan de Letran with a resounding 101-79 win during their knockout quarterfinals series.

Kevin Quiambao led the Green Archers as he exploded for 23 points off the bench alongside six rebounds, two assists, and a steal, while Mark Nonoy and Evan Nelle chimed in with 18 and 12 markers apiece.

La Salle set up a semis clash with defending champion National University while Perpetual will take on University of the Philippines. Both semifinals series are slated on Monday, June 19.
