Meralco downs TNT on Harvey Carey's jersey retirement night; SMB falls to NLEX
The Meralco Bolts took down TNT, 108-90, on Wednesday, the night the Tropang Giga retired the No. 4 jersey of Harvey Carey in the PBA On Tour at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Allein Maliksi got hot from deep as he drilled five out of eight triples for his 28-point output. Three Bolts players also registered double-doubles with Bong Quinto posting 19 points and 11 boards, Cliff Hodge having 10 points and 13 rebounds, and Raymar Jose also having 10 markers and 12 rebounds.
Glenn Khobuntin led TNT with 28 points, while Carl Bryan Cruz, JD Tungcab, and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser chipped in 15 points each.
Meralco improved to 4-2 while TNT remained winless in five games.
Earlier, the NLEX Road Warriors defeated the San Miguel Beermen, 102-94.
Dominic Fajardo was reliable anew for the Road Warriors with 20 points, while Don Trollano had 19 points as NLEX improved to 2-4.
Three players scored at least 20 points for the Beermen with Allyn Bulanadi having 26 points, Rodney Brondial posting monster numbers of 22 points and 24 rebounds, and Jericho Cruz adding 20 points as well. The loss handed SMB their fifth loss in seven games.
PBA On Tour action will return on Friday as Converge takes on Rain or Shine while Barangay Ginebra faces Terrafirma at the same venue.
