Unbeaten Gilas Girls dismantle Jordan, clinch FIBA U16 Asian Championship semis berth

The Gilas Pilipinas Girls remained unbeaten in the 2023 FIBA U16 Women's Asian Championship Division B after dragging host Jordan, 106-58, to reach the semifinals round on Wednesday (Jordan time) in Amman, Jordan.

The win allowed the young Gilas squad to complete a sweep of the pool stage with a 3-0 card while Jordan emerged as second in the group with a 1-2 slate.

Kimi Shannon Lynn Sayson shone the brightest with an all-around performance of 19 points, seven steals, six assists, and four rebounds while Ava Fajardo listed 17 markers, five dimes, four boards, and two swats.

Nevaeh Smith and Ryan Kelly Nair chipped in 15 and 11 points apiece as they frustrated Jordan in front of the home crowd to move two wins away from getting a Division A promotion.

The Philippines will next face the second seed of Group B, which could either be Malaysia or Singapore.
