Cavitex dominates Pioneer Elastoseal to claim back-to-back PBA 3x3 titles


Cavitex continued its winning ways as it made easy work of Pioneer Elastoseal, 22-10, to rule Leg 5 of the PBA 3x3 Season 3 First Conference on Tuesday at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

Former 3x3 national team player Jorey Napoles and Kenneth Ighalo led the Braves with seven points apiece as Cavitex clinched back-to-back leg titles after also reigning supreme in Leg 4 with the dethronement of TNT.

Cavitex hasn't missed the podium in the ongoing first conference, claiming the third place in the first three legs.

Dominick Fajardo and Bong Galanza chipped in four points each as the Braves won the P100,000 prize money.

En route to the title, the Braves finished second in the group stage where they had contrasting results against NorthPort (15-17) and Terrafirma 3x3 (21-12).

They then escaped Meralco in the quarterfinals, 16-14, before surviving Barangay Ginebra in the semifinals with a 20-19 squeaker.

Ginebra, the winner of Leg 1 and 2, settled for third place this time around after a 21-18 victory against the Batang Pier.

Pioneer (10) – Morido 8, Abrigo 1, Mocon 1, Villamor 0.

Third place:

Ginebra (21) – Gumaru 13, Salcedo 4, Cu 2, Ubalde 2.

Northport (18) – Capacio 6, Bulawan 6, Bauzon 4, Zamora 2.
