Greece completes comeback against New Zealand to advance to second round


Greece completed a come-from-behind win against New Zealand, 83-74, to advance to the second round of the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

After trailing 54-50 at the end of the third period, the Greeks outscored the Kiwis, 33-20, in the final frame to claim the second round slot.

Ioannis Papapetrou led Greece with 27 points, while Giannoulis Larenzakis added 20 points.

Shea Ili had 27 points, while Reuben Te Rangi had 19 points for the Kiwis.

Greece will join the group of Lithuania, Montenegro, and the United States in the second round which will start on Friday.
