Jordan Clarkson has nothing but respect for Gilas coach Chot Reyes

Jordan Clarkson expressed his respect for Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes after the latter announced that he was stepping aside following the national team's 2023 FIBA World Cup campaign.

"I could just start off with one word: respect," Clarkson said.

"Like you said, he didn't apply for this job. He didn't do that, he got chosen and you know, he has put everything on the line."

Clarkson has been under Reyes' guidance since last year, when he suited up for the Philippines in the Asian Qualifiers of the World Cup. They reunited this year as Clarkson reinforced Gilas in the World Cup, steering the nationals to a 1-4 finish.

Clarkson also credited Reyes for putting together the team despite many challenges, one of those was the limited time given to the coaching staff to assemble a World Cup squad.

"You know, he's done a good job in rallying all of us in the short time that we've been together. Trying to get stuff in, you know, as quickly as possible. I just got super respect for him," Clarkson, who churned out 34 points against China, added.

"All I got is respect for him and (I) tip my hat off to him for his decision today, and it's all love."
