Lito Adiwang believes he's become a better fighter since training overseas
Lito Adiwang feels that he is an improved fighter since moving his training camp overseas.
The 30-year-old Adiwang was one of the several fighters who left Team Lakay earlier this year before setting up camp in Thailand and moving to HIIT Studio in Bali, Indonesia.
After an 18-month layoff, he returned to action last Friday against Adrian Mattheis where he needed just 23 seconds to win the fight via technical knockout.
“I learned from my mistakes. Once I accepted the holes in my game, it was then that I was able to analyze that I am leveling up,” Adiwang said in an interview on Sparring Sessions.
“When I watch my fights, sometimes [I tell myself] what am I doing? That was me watching myself. If you noticed I try to calculate now.”
Adiwang, known for his explosive and overly aggressive style, showed glimpses of patience in the short span of time inside the ring against Mattheis.
According to the Filipino, he now has a better approach to taking the fight to his opponents.
“With my experience in fighting and training, that was the positive [result] that I am getting overseas,” Adiwang stated.
“I am calmer and better. Everything has a timing. I truly believe I belong in the top fighters of the strawweight division.”
