PBA 3x3: Brandon Ramirez stars as MCFASolver holds off San Miguel in Leg 2 finals

Big man Brandon Ramirez came up huge in back-to-back games to steer MCFASolver past San Miguel, 19-17, and rule Leg 2 of the PBA 3x3 Season 3 Third Conference on Tuesday at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

MCFASolver established a commanding 17-12 lead before the Beermen rallied late as Pao Javelona escaped the defense of Yutien Andrada to power a 4-0 run and cut the deficit to one with 26 seconds left in the game.

But Ramirez bulldozed his way for another basket in the final 18 seconds before JP Sarao's putback sent the match into another one-point affair, 17-18. Louie Vigil then drew a foul against Javelona and sank the first free throw but missed the second one to allow Javelona to create a potential game-tying bucket.

Javelona, though, went wide as MCFASolver cruised to its second leg title since joining in the second conference.

Ramirez, whose game-winning basket allowed MCFASolver to escape NLEX in the semifinals, finished with nine points and four rebounds while Vigil chipped in seven markers. Terrence Tumalip and Andrada rounded out the scoring for the Anton Altamirano-mentored squad.
