Kacey dela Rosa banners Gilas Women in WPBA 3x3

Reigning UAAP women's basketball MVP Kacey dela Rosa will spearhead the national team when it sees action in the revived Invitational WPBA 3x3 that kicks off on Monday, January 22.

The towering Ateneo de Manila University center will join national team mainstays Trina Guytingco and Mikka Cacho as well as Hazelle Yam and Kristine Cayabyab of Ateneo and National University, respectively, as the quartet will compose Gilas A.

Gilas B, on the other hand, will see Jhazmin Joson, Monique del Carmen, Snow Penaranda, Luisa San Juan, and April Tano team up as the two national squads lead the six-team field.

“We’re grateful for the PBA for giving us this chance to evaluate our talent pool as we plot a new start for the 3x3 program in the country,” said Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) program director for 3x3 Eric Altamirano.

Dela Rosa, who posted 19.57 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.64 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game for 83.857 SPs in UAAP Season 86, is tipped to bolster Gilas A following her national team debut during the 42nd William Jones Cup.

The two Gilas teams will face off with Uratex Dream, Philippine Air Force, Philippine Navy, and Angelis Resort as the The tournament begins on January 22 to 23 at Ayala Malls Circuit Makati, on January 29 to 30 at Ayala Malls Market! Market!, and on February 5 and 6 at Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

The top four teams after the elimination round will advance to the crossover playoffs to be held on February 19 at Ayala Malls Glorietta.
