Letran downs Benilde for first Filoil Preseason win

Colegio de San Juan de Letran barged into the win column of the Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup after taking down De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, 80-71, on Saturday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

Incoming rookie Jimboy Estrada led the Knights with 19 points, six rebounds, and three steals as the Allen Ricardo-mentored squad won after losing back-to-back games in the preseason tourney.

Kobe Monje, meanwhile, registered a double-double performance of 14 rebounds and 12 points, while Pao Javillonar chipped in 12 points of his own.

Allen Liwag led the Blazers with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Josh Cajucom had 13 points.

Meanwhile, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA extended its winning streak to three as they took advantage of an undermanned Mapua University (1-1) squad, 76-67.

Rookie Mark Gojo Cruz had 15 points to lead the ALTAs, while JP Boral and Shawn Orgo had 12 and 10 points, respectively.

In another NCAA matchup, Mac Guadaña dropped 29 points as Lyceum of the Philippines University (1-2) posted its first win at the expense of San Sebastian College-Recoletos (0-1), 94-89.

Far Eastern University (2-0), on the other hand, defeated University of the East (1-1), 80-76.
