Gilas Girls wallop Indonesia by 36 to sweep SEABA qualifiers

Gilas Pilipinas Girls asserted their dominance right from tip-off to cruise to a 73-37 triumph over Indonesia to complete a sweep of the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers on Sunday at the Ratchaburi Gymnasium in Thailand.

The lopsided win capped the youthful squad's feisty run that also saw them pull off huge wins against Thailand, which they clobbered with a 103-58 victory, and Malaysia, which they annihilated by 32 points, 100-68.

Alicia Villanueva led the balanced offense after firing a double-double effort of 13 points and 10 rebounds while Tiffany Reyes chipped in nine markers and four boards for the Julie Amos-mentored squad.

Gabby Ramos, who posted 16 and 29 points against Thailand and Malaysia respectively, poured in eight markers, seven boards, two steals, and one assist while Ava Fajardo, Ashlyn Abong, and Margarette Duenas all chimed in with seven points.

By topping the SEABA qualifiers with a 3-0 slate, Gilas Girls have qualified for the FIBA U18 Division B tilt happening next month in China. The winner of Division B will earn a promotion to Division A.
