NCAA juniors MVP Amiel Acido commits to UST

From Las Piñas to España.

After much contemplation, Amiel Acido has decided to bring his act to UAAP as he committed to University of Santo Tomas and will be ready to suit up in Season 87.

Acido, who steered University of Perpetual Help System DALTA to NCAA Season 99 juniors basketball finals against Letran, confirmed the development to GMA News Online as he kicks off his collegiate career with the rebuilding Growling Tigers.

The 6-foot-3 rising star was a key cog for the Junior ALTAs in the past two NCAA seasons.

Averaging 17.33 points, 11.33 rebounds, 3.44 assists, and 1.11 steals in Season 98, he helped the Las Piñas crew rack up four wins against to finish at sixth spot. He was also named to that year's Mythical Five and All-Defensive Team

Acido then took the league by storm the following year, capturing the MVP plum to emerge as the first-ever player from Perpetual to achieve such a feat

In the process, he brought Perpetual to its inaugural finals appearance after they topped the elimination round with an impressive 8-1 slate. However, they would falter to the Squires in three games as the latter completed back-to-back titles

In UST, Acido will be under the guidance of decorated head coach Pido Jarencio and will link up with the likes of Nic Cabañero, Forthsky Padrigao, and Peter Osang as the Growling Tigers look to revive their basketball program.

UST was coming off gloomy campaigns in Season 85 and 86, finishing dead last with a 2-12 and 1-13 win-loss cards, respectively.
