June Mar Fajardo says BPC plum just a bonus as San Miguel ties series vs Meralco

For June Mar Fajardo, his tenth Best Player of the Conference award was just a bonus as he was more motivated to help the San Miguel Beermen in equalizing their PBA Philippine Cup finals series against the Meralco Bolts.

Fajardo on Wednesday was awarded the Best Player of Conference before Game 4 of the finals which San Miguel won, 111-101, to tie the series at 2-2.

"Motivated ako kasi down kami one game sa series. 'Yung BPC bonus na lang 'yun," Fajardo said.

"Masaya ako na nakuha ko ang BPC pero credit ko 'yun sa teammates ko kasi di ako makakakuha ng ganun if 'di dahil sa teammates ko."

(I'm motivated because we're down one game in the series. The BPC was just a bonus. I'm happy I got the BPC but I give credit to my teammates because I won't be able to do that if not for them.)

Fajardo finished with 28 points and 13 rebounds in the victory which he emphasized as an important one for the team.

"Kahit sino sa team namin, puwede maging Best Player of the Conference kasi sobrang lalim ng team namin," he said.

"HIndi ako ginanahan dahil nanalo ako ng BPC, kailangan ko talaga iano ang sarili ko sa ilalim kasi pag natalo kami, 3-1, mahirap mag-bounce back sa 3-1."

(Anyone in our team can be a Best Player of the Conference because we're that deep. I was not that motivated because of the BPC award, but because I need to put myself under the ring because if we lose, it would be hard to bounce back from a 3-1 deficit.)

Game 5 of the finals will be on Friday.
