Charles Tiu steps down as Converge deputy coach to focus on Benilde, business, family

Charles Tiu has stepped down from his post as an assistant coach of PBA team Converge FiberXers.

Tiu confirmed the development to GMA News Online on Thursday.

"[I] just want to focus on Benilde, and our business, and spend time with my wife," Tiu said in a message.

Tiu joined the FiberXers coaching staff last August 2024 during the PBA Governors' Cup.

Back in January, Tiu called the shots for the Strong Group Athletics in the Dubai International Basketball Championship. The Philippine representative, however, decided to withdraw from the bronze medal match as the team said they "encountered officiating inconsistencies" during the semifinals match against Tunisia.

After that, Tiu joined Converge but the FiberXers fell to Rain or Shine in the quarterfinals of the PBA Commissioner's Cup.

With De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Tiu hopes to bring the Blazers again to the finals in the NCAA. Benilde made it to the finals in two of the past three seasons.
