DLSZ's Erica de Luna posts historic first quadruple-double in UAAP
De La Salle Santiago Zobel's Erica de Luna posted the first-ever quadruple-double in UAAP history to power the Junior Lady Archers past Ateneo de Manila University, 114-24, on Sunday in the UAAP high school girls basketball tournament.
The Grade 12 student registered 32 points, 16 rebounds, 12 steals, and 11 assists to close out DLSZ's elimination round campaign with a 2-4 record.
De Luna said the record boosted her confidence as she heads to college.
“Nakaka-boost ito ng confidence heading into my collegiate career. Even though konti lang 'yung time at preparation namin, proud ako aside from my stats, na we ended the season with a win on a high note,” said De Luna.
While the Alabang-based squad ended its campaign on a high note, the Blue Eagles will remain in search of their first win in the tournament as they finished with a 0-6 win-loss card. Back in 2019, Ateneo also ended with a 0-6 record.
National University Nazareth School and University of Santo Tomas will face in the girls' basketball final game on Thursday.
In the boys' division, Far Eastern University eliminated University of the East from semis contention, 66-62.
Most Valuable Player frontrunner Cabs Cabonillas registered a career-high 32 points anchored on five triples to lead the Baby Tamaraws as they improved to 9-4.
Ethan Aguas, meanwhile, led the Junior Warriors with 21 points as they slipped to 5-8.
The win also assured Adamson University of a slot in the semifinals. The Baby Falcons (7-6), however, fell to the University of Santo Tomas (11-2), 62-48.
In the other games, Kieffer Alas registered a season-high of 37 points as the also-ran Zobel (5-8) defeated Ateneo (2-11), 80-73.
NUNS (13-0), meanwhile, inched closer to an outright finals berth after a 90-72 victory against the winless UPIS (0-13).
