TNT's Rondae Hollis-Jefferson credits Ginebra defense after Game 2 loss
While TNT relied on defense to take Game 1 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals against Barangay Ginebra, Tropang Giga import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson said it was also defense that gave their opponents the win last Sunday.
Barangay Ginebra equalized the series with one game apiece as the Gin Kings also contained the TNT reinforcement on its final attempt.
"We played some really solid defense. You know, credit to Ginebra, they played excellent defense, made it really tough for us," RHJ told reporters after their narrow 71-70 loss.
"Very, very poor shooting on our behalf, you know, but you got to give credit to those guys. They wanted to win, they played hard, they got the job done."
Even RHJ admitted that he had a tough time getting shots particularly in the final minutes of the game.
"You know, the last, I want to say, two or three possessions I didn't even get a shot on? So that's on me. I mean, that's something I want to get better at. That's something I want to get better at or grow from it," he said.
"I'm not afraid to see where I messed up, where I made a mistake. Hopefully, Chot calls me out on it. I'm good with that, so it's all about getting better."
RHJ's teammate RR Pogoy, meanwhile, said the team will still go with the TNT important no matter what.
"Sabi ko nga rito sa dugout, live and die with RHJ," Pogoy said.
