Blackwater downs NorthPort for first win in PBA Philippine Cup
Blackwater took down NorthPort, 120-98, to break through in the PBA Philippine Cup on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
After leading 48-47 in the first half, the Bossing pulled away in the third with a 40-point romp against the Batang Pier's 27 points as Christian David had nine points, while Sedrick Barefield and BJ Andrade had eight points apiece in the said frame.
From there, Blackwater continued to widen the gap en route to its biggest lead, 104-77, in the 7:03 mark of the fourth period as RK Ilagan drilled a triple, before cruising to the victory.
Ilagan had 17 points, eight assists, three rebounds, and a steal, while Barefield and David had 20 and 19 points, respectively.
Joshua Munzon had 27 points, while Will Navarro posted a double-double of 24 points, 11 rebounds, an assist, and a block for NorthPort.
Blacwater improved to 1-2 while NorthPort slipped to a similar 1-2 record.
