How Gilas placed in the FIBA Asia Cup in the last 20 years
The Philippine men's national basketball team had its fair share of ups and downs in its history of joining Asian basketball meets organized by FIBA.
In the recent 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, Gilas Pilipinas finished seventh overall in the tournament after getting two wins and three losses. The Philippines fell to the eventual three-peat champions, Australia, in the quarterfinals.
Overall, the Philippines has clinched five FIBA Asian basketball titles (1960, 1963, 1967, 1973, 1986), four runner-up finishes — most recently in 2013 and 2015 and previously in 1965 and 1971 — and a bronze back in 1969.
Here's a recap of the Philippines' finishes in the FIBA Asia Cup, also previously known as the FIBA Asia Championship, since 2007.
| Year | Host | Final placing (Philippines) |
| 2025 | Saudi Arabia | 7th |
| 2022 | Indonesia | 9th |
| 2017 | Lebanon | 7th |
| 2015 | China | 2nd |
| 2013 | Philippines | 2nd |
| 2011 | China | 4th |
| 2009 | China | 8th |

The Philippines was not able to compete in 2005 because the Basketball Association of the Philippines, then the country's governing body in the sport, was suspended by FIBA which prohibited the country to compete in international tournaments.
