Remogat leads UP past former team UE for first win in UAAP Season 88
The University of the Philippines broke through with a 92-75 victory over the University of the East on Sunday in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum — and it was none other than former Red Warrior Rey Remogat who led the charge for the Fighting Maroons.
Remogat delivered a near triple-double, finishing with 21 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds to power the Diliman-based squad to its first win of the season.
After a tight first quarter which ended with a 27-20 lead for UP, the Fighting Maroons continued to ride the momentum and outscored UE, 26-16, to claim a 53-36 lead by halftime. It was all UP then as it got its biggest lead, 85-57, at the 6:01 mark of the fourth period before claiming the win.
Aside from Remogat, Francis Nnoruka and Jalen Stevens added double-doubles with 14 points and 10 rebounds apiece, while Gani Stevens chipped in 11 points.
