Former UAAP high school star Kieffer Alas commits to Ateneo
Kieffer Alas is headed home to the Philippines — and he’s bringing his talents to Katipunan.
After a one-year stay in the United States, the 18-year-old combo guard announced he has chosen Ateneo de Manila University to represent when he steps onto the collegiate stage.
Alas announced his commitment to the Blue Eagles in an Instagram post Tuesday. He will be available starting UAAP Season 89 and has a full five years of eligibility.
The former UAAP high school boys MVP from De La Salle Zobel will also play under his father, Louie Alas, who currently serves as one of the assistant coaches for Ateneo tactician Tab Baldwin.

In May 2025, Alas announced that he's flying to the United States and was later named to the Layton Christian Academy national team roster. He then suited up for the Utah Prep earlier this year in bid to further hone his skills ahead of his college career.
Alas' arrival at Ateneo is a huge boost for Baldwin and the Blue Eagles, who missed the UAAP Final Four for the last two seasons.
