PBA: Magnolia dominates Titan Ultra, keeps playoff hopes alive

Magnolia dominated Titan Ultra, 135-98, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium to keep its playoff hopes alive.

The Hotshots improved to 5-5, while Titan Ultra dropped to 2-8.

After a tight first quarter that saw Magnolia take a 27-21 lead, the Hotshots pulled away in the second period, outscoring Titan Ultra, 34-20, to build a commanding 61-41 advantage at halftime.

Magnolia continued to pour it on in the second half, routing the Giant Risers to bounce back from their loss to Rain or Shine last Saturday.

Clint Chapman led the way with 31 points, along with eight rebounds, six assists, and three blocks. Zav Lucero paced the locals with 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and a steal.

For Titan Ultra, Earl Michael Gilmore also had 31 points to go with 14 rebounds, two steals, one assist, and one block, while Josh Munzon added 24 points, three rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
