PH teams bow out of contention in FIBA 3x3 Manila Challenger
Philippine teams bowed out of contention in the FIBA 3x3 Manila Challenger on Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
In the qualifying draw, Pasay — composed of Jeff Manday, Zed Etulle, Robbie Herndon, and Jomel Puno — defeated fellow Philippine squad SJ Del Monte, made up of Aldous Torculas, Gelo Crisostomo, Nic Cabañero, and Lawrence Hawkins, 21-18.
Prior to that, SJ Del Monte suffered a 21-17 loss to Spain’s Fuengirola, which later defeated Pasay, 19-13.
Fuengirola’s two victories secured a spot in the main draw and eliminated the two Philippine teams from contention.
In the main draw, Mandaluyong — composed of Jerrick Ahanmisi, Sean Alter, Joseph Eriobu, and Dominick Fajardo — dropped both of its games, first against Germany’s Skyliners, 21-15, and then against Mongolia’s Ulaanbatar MMC Energy, 21-8, to exit the tournament.
