PBA: NLEX welcomes Evan Nelle after parting ways with Sidney Onwubere

Newly-minted NLEX head coach Jimmy Alapag sees his team make its first move with him at the helm as the Road Warriors acquired the rights to guard Evan Nelle ahead of the PBA Season 50 Governors' Cup that starts this Friday.

The Road Warriors announced Nelle's signing on Tuesday with the 28-year-old playmaker joining NLEX after a brief stint with the Phoenix Fuel Masters. In a corresponding move, the team parted ways with Sidney Onwubere.

Nelle averaged 8.08, 1.54 rebounds, 4.54 assists, 0.92 steals, and 0.31 blocks in the previous PBA Commissioner's Cup, where he helped Phoenix finished at seventh spot through the elimination round before falling to Barangay Ginebra in the quarterfinals.

At NLEX, Nelle will reunite with his former san Beda teammate Robert Bolick, whom he played with during the Red Lions' title run in NCAA Season 94 men's basketball tournament.

He will also join a stacked NLEX backcourt that features Schonny Winston, LJay Gonzales, Kevin Alas, and Xyrus Torres.
