Gilas Pilipinas U21 3x3 secures FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup berth

The Gilas Pilipinas U21 men's 3x3 team secured a berth in the FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup after topping the FIBA 3x3 Nations League Asia 2 Conference in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

The squad, composed of Koji Buenaflor, Jedric Daa, Jhuniel Dela Rama, Earl Medina, and Cabs Cabonilas, captured three stop titles and reached the finals in five of the conference's six stops.

Gilas capped its campaign by ruling Stop 6, defeating New Zealand, 17-11, Singapore, 20-9, and Japan, 19-18, in overtime.

The Filipinos also won Stop 5 after beating Japan, 13-8, Malaysia, 21-14, and New Zealand, 21-19.

In Stop 4, Gilas settled for runner-up honors after a narrow 14-13 loss to Japan in the final game. Prior to that, the team defeated Malaysia, 21-11, and New Zealand, 21-20.

Gilas also emerged victorious in Stop 3, beating New Zealand, 21-16, Singapore, 22-14, and Japan, 19-14..

Earlier in the tournament, the Filipinos finished second in Stop 1 after falling to Belarus, 20-19, in the last game. They failed to reach the podium in Stop 2.
