Floyd Jr 'ready to fight' Pacquiao in May 2012
World boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is planning to fight Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao in May next year, a report said. An article on ESPN.com quoted Mayweather's adviser Leonard Ellerbe as saying the planned fight will take place on May 5, 2012. Mayweather's camp said the undefeated American boxer vowed to be active in the sport again after defeating Victor Ortiz last September. Past negotiations for a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight had failed over alleged doping issue. Meanwhile, GMA News' Chino Trinidad, in an interview on News To Go said he could not believe Mayweather is really set to fight Pacquiao in 2011. "Hanggang hindi nako-consummate yung fight na 'yan mahirap paniwalaan yan," Trinidad told News To Go's anchor Howie Severino. Reporting from Los Ageles, California, Trinidad said there is no official statement yet about the possible Mayweather fight from the Pacquiao camp, which is busy for Manny's training for the Nov. 12 bout against Juan Manuel Marquez. "Mahirap paniwalaan si Mayweather... alam naman nating master siya sa pang-aagaw ng attention. Naka-focus ngayon ang attention sa training ni Manny," Trinidad said, adding: "Mayweather had said the same thing before... Hintayin nalang natin na ma-consummate yung laban bago tayo maniwala." â LBG, GMA News
