Celebrities gather at Pacquiao-Marquez III

This one is no different from past Manny Pacquiao fights. Sports personalities, celebrities, and politicians all came to see the world's top pound-for-pound fighter take on long-time Mexican nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez, the third installment of their epic rivalry at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Saturday night (Sunday, Manila time). Former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world Mike Tyson, five-time heavyweight title holder Evander Holyfield, one-time pound-for-pound king Roy Jones Jr., Mexican boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez and two-time Filipino world title holder Gerry Penalosa were among the boxing figures who showed up for the 12-round title fight. Joining them are current world titlist Amir Khan (World Boxing Association junior welterweight champion), former Pacquiao nemesis Erik Morales (WBC light-welterweight), Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (WBC middleweight) and recently dethroned WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz. Also in the house were NBA greats Magic Johnson and Charles Barkley, Hollywood stars Steve Buscemi and Jeremy Piven, and former lead singer of 80s band Survivor, Jimi Jamison, who sang 'Eye of the Tiger' as Pacquiao was making his entrance. Also in the crowd of 16,000 were Philippine Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel, chairman of the Senate committee on Games, Amusement and Sports, former Bacolod City congressman and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) chairman Monico Puentevella, Quezon City first district Rep. Vicente 'Bingbong' Crisologo, who shared a ringside seat beside his cousin Ilocos Sur Governor Luis 'Chavit' Singson. Benjie Paras, Paolo Contis, Onyok Velasco, Gladys Guevarra and some of Pacquiao's co-hosts in his weekly variety show Manny Many Prizes likewise watched the fight live. — JVP, GMA News
