According to Lem Satterfield of the Ring Magazine, negotiations for a fifth fight between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez have already begun.
Satterfield talked to Michael Koncz, one of Pacquiao’s advisors, who said that he is currently in talks with Bob Arum.
"Yes, Marquez is a possibility, but there are other fighters that are possibilities too. We're negotiating, and if we can come to terms on the money, we'll do it, and if not, then it's up to Manny," Koncz told Satterfield.
This comes after the news that Marquez was uninterested in a fifth fight against Pacquiao. Marquez first dangled retirement as the sole reason why he didn’t want to a fifth fight before opting to continue his boxing career, Marquez also claimed that his fans don’t want him to fight Pacquiao one more time. "Nothing is definite. Manny hasn't made his mind up when he's going to fight or who he's going to fight or where he's going to fight. I'm in negotiations with Top Rank right now on Manny's behalf, but we haven't made any decisions yet," Koncz added.
Pacquiao and his team tried to arrange an April tune-up fight in Macau but negotiations fell apart. Instead, Top Rank decided to stage a fight card there on April 6, featuring Brian Viloria’s first defense of his unified WBA and WBO flyweight titles alongside Chinese Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming’s professional boxing debut. - CLP, GMA News
