The World Boxing Council has suspended boxer-rapper Adrien Broner, after the American made racially offensive comments following his win over Carlos Molina last week.
Broner, the reigning WBC Lightweight champion, who picked up the WBA International Super Lightweight belt with his unanimous decision win over the Mexican Molina, said during the post-fight interview, “I’ve beaten Africans and I just beat the f--- out of a Mexican.”
The WBC responded by sending out an open letter, asking Broner to “either clarify his statement or to issue a public apology if those words were intended to be disrespectful and offensive.”
The WBC added that it is suspending Broner and excluding him from their ratings until he does either of the above.
The statement added, “Boxing is a great sport. It is a world sport, and boxers should be honorable and exemplary members of the community.
“Fair play and human equality must always be upheld.”
Broner boasts of a 29-1-0 record, with 22 wins coming by KO. - AMD, GMA News
