Watch: Pinoy fighter Michael Farenas scores sensational upset, spoils 50 Cent's birthday

Filipino fighter Michael Farenas scored the biggest win of his boxing career when he stopped previously-unbeaten American Mark Davis on Wednesday (Thursday morning PHL time) in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

 

The bout, broadcast in a special edition of American sports giant ESPN's "Friday Night Fights," was supposed to celebrate the 38th birthday of rapper 50 Cent, who serves as Davis' promoter.

 

But the Filipino fighter was there to spoil the party, dominating the fight right from the get-go in dealing Davis' his first defeat in 18 fights.

 

The 30-year-old Farenas improved his record to 39-4-4 with 32 knockouts. More importantly, his victory puts him in line to challenge the winner of  the July 10 IBF junior lightweight bout between Argenis Mendez and Rances Barthelemy. - JST, GMA News
