Manny Pacquiao 'impressed, intrigued' by Chris Algieri's scientific approach

Manny Pacquiao is the favorite ahead of his November 23 clash with Chris Algieri. But he also knows the kind of threat the unbeaten Algieri brings to the table.

Now pegged as a 16 to 1 underdog by oddsmakers, Algieri won the Pacquiao sweepstakes by beating the highly favored Ruslan Provodnikov this past June.

Algieri rose from two knockdowns in the opening round en route to a split decision victory — a gritty showing that impressed Pacquiao.

"Chris Algieri fought an exceptional fight in June to win the world title from Ruslan Provodnikov," said Pacquiao.

"I am impressed and intrigued by his scientific approach to training and boxing. He may be the smartest and the fittest athlete I have ever faced and that makes him the most dangerous.

"I worked hard to reclaim my welterweight title and I will work harder to make sure I keep it on November 22." — JST, GMA News
