Boxing: Juan Manuel Marquez' future depends on his right knee says trainer
It remains uncertain if Juan Manuel Marquez will ever set foot inside the squared-circle again according to his hall of fame trainer Nacho Beristain.
Mostly known as Manny Pacquiao's archrival, Marquez suffered a right knee injury prior to his lone fight against Mike Alvarado in May last year.
With plans to fight again in the last quarter of 2014, Marquez went back to training only to be hounded again by his right knee.
Now 41 with 64 fights under his belt, Beristain cites that Marquez might never compete again if the boxer doesn't reach full fitness.
"Before anything else is the physical aspect. Hopefully Juan Manuel recovers from the knee injury. He's in rehab," Beristain told BoxingScene.com.
"Later on we'll have to see how he feels on his knee. If it doesn't get better, we'll have to see what happens. He probably won't fight again, but that's a decision for him to make." - RAF, GMA News
