Marquez warns Pacquiao: Mayweather is a protected fighter in Las Vegas

Juan Manuel Marquez has been in the ring with Manny Pacquiao four times, and has also faced Floyd Mayweather in a fight.

 

That gives the Mexican warrior a unique perspective on the matchup between the Filipino ring icon and the unbeaten American champion.

 

"It is very difficult to penetrate the guard of Mayweather, but with the speed that Pacquiao has, he can do it," Marquez told Boxingscene.com.

 

But Marquez warns that it's not just Mayweather's defensive genius that Pacquiao is up against.

 

"The coin is in the air, but I know both of those fighters and it is difficult to be able to beat Floyd Mayweather, and even more so because he is a protected fighter in Las Vegas."

 

It remains uncertain if the long awaited showdown between Pacquiao and Mayweather will come to fruition.

 

In hopes to finally make the bout a reality, Pacquiao has reportedly agreed to terms of the fight, with the ball now on Mayweather's court. — JST, GMA News
