Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao remained mum about the discussions between him and Floyd Mayweather Jr. during their encounter in Miami last week.

After the eight-division champion coached his PBA team Kia Carnival on Sunday, Pacman entertained questions about their loss to Barako Bull but refused to answer queries about the on-going negotiations for his highly-anticipated superfight with the American boxer.

"Antayin na lang natin 'yung announcement," said the Sarangani representative, who just returned to the country after a long trip abroad promoting the Manny documentary, meeting Prince Harry, and attending the National Prayer breakfast in the United States.

Pacquiao met Mayweather while he watched the Miami Heat-Milwaukee Bucks game, and the two fighters also talked in Pacquiao's hotel room. Mayweather posted a photo of the private meeting in his Shots account, before uploading a candid video on Instagram.

Pacman set a January 31 deadline for the pound-for-pound king to sign the contract and seal the deal, but Mayweather's camp said that the papers are not even finalized for both boxers to sign.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said Pacquiao has already agreed to the terms of the fight demanded by Mayweather, including a 60/40 split in favor of the American, the MGM Grand in Las Vegas as venue, and May 2 as the fight date.

Arum said that it was Mayweather who is holding up the deal because of fear of losing his undefeated status. The boxer and Showtime Executive Vice-President Stephen Espinoza refuted these claims, dismissing them as "untruthful" statements.

Both sides are still optimistic that the fight will finally be made, but the negotiations have been stalled so far as the fighters and their respective networks, HBO and Showtime, discuss arrangements for the fight and the television broadcast.

Considered one of the biggest bouts ever in the sport, fans have been clamoring for the superfight since 2009 but negotiations have fallen through as the parties failed to sort out their issues.

The fight eventually lost its appeal over the years as both fighters went past their prime, but the buzz was renewed after Pacquiao demolished Chris Algieri in Macau last November and called out Mayweather in post-fight interviews. - RAF, GMA News
