Ticket prices for Mayweather-Pacquiao may exceed $3K – Forbes

With the Mayweather-Pacquiao superfight widely believed to be the largest bout in the sport of boxing financially, ticket prices for the historic May 2 affair could exceed $3,000.

According to Forbes magazine, the estimate was based on the ticket prices for the Mayweather-Canelo Alvarez fight in 2013, which averaged $2,887.69.

That was the most expensive overall sporting event that year, and the Mayweather-Pacquiao will likely surpass the amount as the fight is expected to generate $300 million.

 

According to Forbes, the MGM Grand Garden Arena is considerably a small venue for a fight of such a scale, which can further increase the ticket prices.

 

More than five years in the making, the fight was finally announced on Saturday (PHL time) as Mayweather made a shoutout to his twitter followers to check his Shots account, where he broke the news.
