Despite Floyd Mayweather's reputation as a defensive master in the ring, Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao says it is not a concern when they face each other on May 2.

The unbeaten American fighter is known for his smarts and famous shoulder roll that make it hard for opposing fighters to land a solid hit.

But Pacquiao thinks he has the capability to penetrate that defense.

"He has a good defense but I don't worry about that. I can easily break that defense," the eight-division champion said after the kick-off press conference for the mega-fight.

Pacquiao, known for his excellent hand speed and punching power, believes that it will all come down to offense: landing shots and hurting the opponent.

"This is boxing. It's about who will throw a lot of punches and connect the punches," said the Sarangani representative in an earlier interview with ESPN.

He also said that the quickness in his feet, combined with his renowned hand speed, will be his advantage over the unbeaten American boxer.

"Floyd has good handspeed, but his foot is not the same as his handspeed," he said.

Retired boxing legend Mike Tyson also said in a video that Pacquiao's speed will be his trump card against the pound-for-pound king. Mayweather, according to him, has never faced anyone who throws a lot of punches like Pacquiao. —Marisse Panaligan/JST, GMA News
