Freddie Roach will be Pacquiao's edge against Mayweather, says Cotto

Apart from being great champions, Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto share another thing in common: having Freddie Roach in their corner.

And the Puerto Rican legend believes having the Hall of Fame trainer on his side will provide Pacquiao a big edge when he climbs the ring against Floyd Mayweather on May 2 (May 3 PHL time) in Las Vegas.

"I think it's going to be a really tough fight. Manny has his advantages. Floyd has his advantages," Cotto, who has fought both Mayweather and Pacquiao, told ESPN.com.

"But working with Freddie Roach the past two fights, I know what he is capable of doing and I think he is going to get Manny to see Floyd's mistakes and Manny is going to take advantage of them."

Apart from having Roach's instructions, Cotto sees Pacquiao's vaunted speed giving Mayweather fits.

"I'm rooting for Manny Pacquiao. I think the quickness of Manny is going to have a big impact on Floyd's performance," said Cotto.

"Manny can move from here to there in less seconds than Floyd and that's going to be a big advantage for Manny, [but] Floyd is a strong boxer."

While declining to provide a pick, Cotto said the more aggressive fighter will likely come out the victor.

"I believe they have the strength and the one who attacks is going to be the winner. Also who is going to be stronger mentally? That is very important," he said. -- JST, GMA News
