"I thought I won the fight."

That was how Manny Pacquiao reacted after his unanimous decision defeat to Floyd Mayweather on Saturday (Sunday PHL time).

As expected, Pacquiao was the more aggressive fighter during the fight, stalking Mayweather outside the ring. But it was Mayweather's accurate counterpunching that earned the nod of the judges, who scored the fight 118-110, 116-112, and 116-112 for the American fighter.

"It was a good fight," said Pacquiao. "I thought I won the fight. He didn't do anything."

Though Pacquiao repeatedly forced Mayweather to backpedal, the wily American blunted his opponent's best efforts by using his renowned defensive skills while getting in several telling jabs and punches of his own.

The showdown between the two best boxers of their generation, dubbed the 'Fight of the Century', had been more than five years in the making and is expected to be the biggest-grossing prize bout of all time. -- with Reuters/JST, GMA News
