Alex Ariza mocks Pacquiao's conditioning
Manny Pacquiao's former conditioning coach Alex Ariza who now works for Floyd Mayweather isn't buying the fact that an injured right shoulder hampered the Filipino's performance against his client in Las Vegas this past weekend.
The outspoken Ariza pointed out that his old boss Pacquiao was rather poorly trained heading to the fight, and the loss had nothing to do with his right shoulder.
"The truth is Manny looked like [expletive]. They brought him in at 152 pounds and he looked like [expletive]. He wasn't physically strong, he wasn't quick, and he wasn't exposive. What does that have to do with his shoulder? Where was his footwork? Where were his angles? Where was all of that?" Ariza told fighthype.com.
"So hurting his shoulder negates everything else? You know, if he says he's hurt, he's hurt, but after watching the fight 10 [expletive] times, man, I'm so disappointed that they took that route. He didn't do nothing during the fight to indicate that he was injured at all."
In a recent interview with GMA News, Pacquiao claimed the injury started in 2009 when he fell off a jet ski in a Sarangani beach. Ariza was still a member of Team Pacquiao back then and he categorically denied any knowledge of Pacquiao ever hurting his shoulder in the past.
"When I was training Manny for 6 [expletive] years, we never had a shoulder problem. Now listen, that's not to say we didn't have soreness. You know, this is a combative sport," says Ariza.
"I used to always tell all of them that we're never going to go into a fight 100%. But to say that you have something torn or you have something damaged that would impede your level of performance, no, Manny's never ever had any of those problems." - RAF/JST, GMA News
