Hatton: Mayweather will be remembered for his colorful character, not exciting fights
By JM SIASAT
Retired two-division champion Ricky Hatton has an idea how Floyd Mayweather will be remembered when all is said and done.
In an interview with BBC, Hatton, a common opponent of Manny Pacquiao and Mayweather, gave his honest opinion on how he thinks the people will recall the brash American's career when he calls it a day.
"He (Mayweather) is a superstar in an era of very few superstars. Floyd will be remembered for his brilliance between the ropes and for being a colourful character outside of the ring, but not for the excitement he provided," said Hatton.
"Mayweather is not bothered about pleasing the crowd, he's bothered about doing what he does and getting paid. He doesn't have you on the edge of your seat, let's put it that way."
Hatton has nothing but respect for Mayweather's excellent boxing skills, but cites that not everyone can appreciate the latter's style.
"As a boxer, I sit there and watch his ability and think, 'wow, look at his movement, that's unbelievable.' But a non-boxing person will probably be sitting there thinking, 'I've paid all this money, what the hell am I watching?!'" - RAF, GMA News
