Mayweather, Pacquiao top Katy Perry, One Direction on Forbes highest-paid celebs list
The fight of the century may not have lived up to its hype in terms of action, but it certainly lived up to box-office expectations.
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao topped the highest-paid celebrities list of Forbes Magazine, after earning $300 million and $160 million, respectively, from June 2014-June 2015. The numbers were boosted by their fight last month, touted to be the richest in boxing history.
Mayweather defeated Pacquiao in a unanimous decision.
The two fighters topped pop stars Katy Perry, who was third after earning $135 million, and One Direction (No. 4, $130 million).
Radio shock jock Howard Stern rounded out the top five with $95 million in earnings during the period.
Also making the top 10 are country music star Garth Brooks (No. 6, $90 million); novelist James Patter (No. 7, $89 million); actor Robert Downey Jr. and pop star Taylor Swift (tied for No. 8, $80 million); and football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (No. 10, $79.5 million). —JST, GMA News
