Pinoy boxer Dennis Laurente ready for tough fight in PBC undercard

OPBF and WBC ABCO junior middleweight champion Dennis Laurente is primed and ready for his upcoming acid test against John Jackson on the undercard of Premier Boxing Champions on August 2 (August 3 PHL time) at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

Laurente, who just turned 38 on Wednesday, hosted a media workout at the One Punch Boxing Gym in Apoka Florida to show his current form before setting foot atop the ring.

"He looked sharp in his last sparring with Phillip Penson (8-1-2, 2KOs). He appears ready and has no signs of jet lag," Nick Sityar, Vice President of Florida-based One Punch Boxing Promotions told GMA News Online.

"They sparred in California before they got here and had a complete eight weeks training camp instead of the usual six."

Sityar says Laurente will be in for a tough fight against the hard hitting Jackson (19-2, 15KOs), adding that boxing fans can only expect fireworks come fight night.

"Jackson is strong but has a suspect chin. He needs to beat him inside [because] Jackson can be countered," said Sityar.

"It's going to be a tough fight for Dennis."

In the main event, Juan Carlos Payano is set to duke it out against Rau'shee Warren for the WBA and IBO world bantamweight titles. —JST, GMA News
