Pinoy fighter Denver Cuello ready to fight Mexican foe anywhere

Hard-hitting Denver Cuello is willing to fight Mexican Raul Garcia Hirales anytime, anywhere for their World Boxing Council-mandated title eliminator this year.

Cuello, 28, is on a three-fight winning streak since losing in his lone world title bid in Dubai in 2013, a fight where he injured his right shoulder.

The Iloilo native, who holds a record of 36-5-6 with 24 knockouts, is guaranteed to have another shot at the WBC world minimumweight title should he emerge victorious over Hirales (36-3-1, 22KOs).

"Hirales is good. He is a former world champion who packs power in his punches so a fight between us will be fun," Cuello told GMA News Online.

"I prefer to have the fight here in the Philippines but if they give us a huge offer [to fight in Mexico] then we'll fight there. I also have supporters in Mexico and the judges won't be Mexicans anyway."

Cuello's manager and promoter Aljoe Jaro has already sent an offer to host the fight in the country upon receiving the order from the sanctioning body. Be it here or overseas, the ever confident Cuello believes that boxing aficionados are in for a treat.

"I will do everything I can to win this fight. Rest assured it will be an exciting fight because he has punching power. [I think] he'll go there and trade and I want a slugfest too so I can push myself to the limit." —JST, GMA News
