It won't be wise for Pacquiao to fight Amir Khan - Algieri

If you ask former world light welterweight champion Chris Algieri, it wouldn't be a smart move for Manny Pacquiao to fight Amir Khan coming off a shoulder injury.

Pacquiao, 36, last featured inside the ring in May when he lost to Floyd Mayweather. The People's Champ went through surgery shortly after the bout for a torn rotator cuff injury on his right shoulder which he claims to have agitated during the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight.

"Pacquiao’s coming off of that shoulder surgery and Amir Khan’s a tough fight for anybody and to come back off of an injury and have that as your first opponent," Algieri told ontheropesboxing.com.

The Sarangani congressman may want to listen to Algieri, as the American fought and lost to both Pacquiao and Khan.

"I think that wouldn’t be a smart move for Pacquiao but I think it would be a great fight, you got two great fighters there."

The Filipino ring icon is looking to make a final ring appearance in the first quarter of 2016 before running for a senatorial seat in the national elections. Amir Khan, Timothy Bradley and Terence Crawford are the names included in the Pacquiao sweepstakes. - RAF, GMA News
