Former Pacquiao foe Antonio Margarito returns to the ring
Former world welterweight champion Antonio Margarito will be bidding for a successful ring comeback this weekend against Jorge Paez Jr. on March 5 (March 6 PHL time) in Mexico.
Margarito was handed a vicious beatdown by Manny Pacquiao in their world light middleweight championship bout in Texas.
Not only that the Mexican suffered a lopsided loss at the hands of the Filipino boxing icon, he also acquired a serious eye injury that required surgery shortly after.
The now 37-year-old Margarito is fighting for the first time since 2012 when he was dominated and stopped by Puerto Rican superstar Miguel Cotto.
Still hoping to get a crack at a world title, Margarito holds a record of 38-8 with 27 knockouts.
Paez, meanwhile, has been more busy having fought four times last year. He's 2-3-1 in his last six fights and is seen as a good measuring stick to assess where Margarito's fight game is currently at.
Paez, who is looking to spoil Margarito's ring return, holds a record of 39-7-2 with 23 knockouts. — APG, GMA News
