Khan: 'I will beat Alvarez with speed, determination and skill'

Former world light welterweight champion Amir Khan believes he has what it takes to pull a major upset when he faces The RING and WBC world middleweight champion Saul Alvarez on May 7 (May 8 PHL time) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

"When I was 17 and in the Olympics I was an underdog, no one gave me a chance of winning a medal," said Khan.

"Everyone thought I was going to lose then. This is what this feels like now."

Khan, 29, is pegged as a heavy underdog in the upcoming fight and is even viewed by some as a stay busy opponent before Alvarez's prospective showdown against Gennady Golovkin.

For a couple of years, Khan has tirelessly chased for a big money fight against Floyd Mayweather, and recently with his old stablemate Manny Pacquiao. Now set to face one of the biggest draws in boxing, Khan is trying to convince the world that he's out to win and not just after the money.

"Alvarez is a dangerous fighter. People keep asking me why I want to fight this big fighter. I really believe I can win in this fight," said Khan.

"What will win this fight is speed, determination and skill. My dream has always been to fight the best and test myself and in Canelo I'm facing just that." — APG, GMA News
