Philippine Army, GenSan LGU to hold live screenings of Pacquiao-Bradley fight

The Philippine Army will hold a free live screening of Manny Pacquiao's fight against Timothy Bradley on Sunday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Army spokesperson Col. Benjamin Hao said Saturday that three different viewing venues will be prepared inside the Headquarters Philippine Army in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Retired and active soldiers and their dependents can watch the bout at the Army Officers Clubhouse, while Enlisted Personnel and Civilian Employees can go to the Army Gym. Wounded soldiers will also have a chance to see the fight at the Army General Hospital.

“Other army soldiers in posts nationwide will also be on hand to cheer for their comrade-idol during fight time," Hao said.

Civilians are also welcome to avail of the live screening, but military personnel and their dependents remain as the top priority.

Pacquiao was included in the Army reserve force in 2006 with a rank of lieutenant colonel. He is working on humanitarian missions and disaster response operations as a deputy commander for 1st Sarangani Province Reserve Battalion.

The local government of General Santos City, meanwhile, is set to release 1,500 tickets for the Pacquiao-Bradley fight screening at Lagao Gym.

The venue has a seating capacity of 5,000 people, but tickets are only issued for the court and lower box area.

Non-ticket holders are welcome to watch the screening from the general admission area, which is open to public.

Other venues offering pay per view in the city are the Pacman Sports Stadium and the Family Hotel and Convention Center. —with a report from Gary Balantay/Marisse Panaligan/ALG, GMA News
