Pacquiao’s next opponent Broner arrested in Florida

American boxer Adrien Broner, who is scheduled to fight Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao next month, was arrested on Sunday in Florida through a warrant.

According to a report on celebrity news website TMZ, Broner was arrested in Broward County after an arrest warrant against him was issued for his failure to appear in court earlier this month.

He was booked in a county jail and later released.

The warrant was connected to a case filed against him in December last year for having no driver's license, speeding and no registration or proof of insurance, for which he had already been arrested, according to the report.

He was once again nabbed in July for failing to appear in court.

Broner was being sued for an unpaid jewelry bill amounting to $1.152 million, TMZ also reported earlier this month.

On January 19, the 29-year old boxer is scheduled to fight reigning WBA welterweight champion Pacquaio in Las Vegas, Nevada. — Joviland Rita/MDM, GMA News
