Team Broner trash talks Pacquiao at final presser

Eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao brushed off some Team Broner trash-talk at the final press conference before the Las Vegas main event on January 19.

"I don't care that he's an eight-time World Champion in all the weight classes. Sh*t, I don't care 'bout none of that. All I'm worried about is, as long as I'm getting my money, right? We can have a nice fight," Adrien Broner said on Thursday.

"I guarantee that he (Broner) will send Manny back to the Senate beltless, without the WBA title," his coach, Kevin Cunningham, added.

According to GMA News' Mav Gonzales on her report for "Balitanghali," the young four -division champion was fed up with all the talk about a potential rematch between Pac-Man and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Even Showtime host Al Bernstein got an earful from Broner, who responded to the sportscaster's question by saying: "You be talking so much sh*t about me on Twitter, bro."

All the smack-talk, however, did not seem to faze Team Pacquiao who were smiling throughout the presser.

"(It's) Nothing personal. Outside the ring... we'll always be friendly if you want to be friends with us," Pacquiao said. "But this coming Saturday, like I said, we worked hard, we should give our best to the fans."

The 40-year-old boxing icon, who dotted his final statement with a Bible verse, said was already grateful for all he has achieved after so many years in the sport.

"I already accomplished what I want to accomplish in boxing, and maybe more than my dreams. I just want to stay (on) top until I get to retire and I want to stay a winner in boxing, especially trying to bring one fight in the Philippines before I retire," Pacquiao said.

But the "Pambansang Kamao" is far from putting off the chance to face one particular opponent in the ring one last time.

Addressing Mayweather, Pacquiao said "I'm still here in boxing so if you want to come back, then come back and let's face each other in the ring."

Pacquiao and Broner will meet at the ring for the WBA Welterweight Championship on Saturday, January 19, US time (January 20 in PHL) at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

"This isn't a contest of who's got the best resume. It's not a contest of who has the best career or who's the best senator. This is a high-level contest with high stakes between two of the most talented, athletically gifted and accomplished fighters in the sport today," Showtime Sports president Stephen Espinoza said. —Margaret Claire Layug/LDF, GMA News
